What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy (CST) was originally pioneered and developed by Osteopathic physician John E. Upledger, DO. CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system. This system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
The practitioner of CST provides a light, 5 gram, touch to release restrictions in the Craniosacral system. This improves the functioning of the central nervous system and helps to support the bodies own natural healing ability.
How can CST help me?
Many recipients of CST report feeling deeply relaxed and re-centered after a session. Benefits of CST treatments can include better sleep, reduction in chronic pain and headaches and an overall sense of calm focus.
Some conditions that Craniosacral therapy can support healing of and reduce symptoms from include:
-Migraines
-Central Nervous System disorders
-Chronic neck and back pain
-PTSD
-Chronic fatigue
-TMJ
-Stress and tension related problems
-Scoliosis
-Fibromyalgia and other pain disorders
And many more.
Craniosacral therapy is not only effective for treating specific conditions but is an excellent preventative healthcare treatment as well. Sessions can be scheduled on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis, depending upon your treatment goals. CST sessions are currently available with practitioners at our Woburn and Newton locations.
